Pleione Energy S.A (founded in 2015) develops, designs and produces cost-effective products and applications for the energy and space sector. The primary application field is the design and development of advanced storage systems through the application of nanotechnology in batteries, capacitors, fuel cells etc. Advanced materials and nanotechnology expertise, along with extensive research experience in the energy and aerospace sector, empowers the team behind the company to achieve technological breakthroughs. The company is an International Joint Venture between the Greek company ADAMANT COMPOSITES LTD and the German company OMNIDEA-RTG Gmbh and is based at the Technology incubator of the National Center for Scientific Research (NCSR) "Demokritos" in Athens, Greece. The Pleione Energy team consists of highly experienced engineering and business professionals with international exposure and involvement in a series of international joint research and development space, aeronautics and energy programs (ESA and EU activities).
Role within INERRANT
Within the framework of INERRANT, Pleione Energy has the responsibility of the work package that focuses on the ‘Up-scaling and demonstration of the developed technologies at “Gigafactory”-relevant manufacturing scale’, with significant impact on transferring the technologies developed throughout the activity from lad scale to an industrial level. Pleione is responsible for the successful integration of the developed Gen 3 Lithium-ion battery technologies in a safe and efficient battery cell and for the successful exploitation of these technologies in co-operation with the battery industry. One of the primary goals is also to define the LIB cell design, outline its features, and set also the benchmark for the developed battery cells. Pleione Energy provides also support on WP1, WP2 and WP3, with the preparation of battery cells utilizing the novel materials developed in this activity and the electrochemical characterization of the cells. Finally, Pleione is leading Task 7.4 and is responsible for the establishment of exploitation and the delivery of viable business cases for the developed technologies within INERRANT in a strong co-operation with partners of the project.
