University of Würzburg
Founded in 1402, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) is one of the oldest and largest universities in Germany located in Northern Bavaria. It is a leading research institution with more than 450 professors active in different fields of research with a general focus on sustainability and modern societies challenges. Almost 29,000 students are being trained for highly-qualified professions. JMU’s research and education benefits from the universities worldwide network within the framework of several hundred partnerships and collaborations with partners from academia and industry.
Role within INERRANT
The two JMU groups involved in INERRANT will jointly develop and characterize substances to help stabilize the interface between the high-energy cathode materials and the electrolyte in WP2. The focus of the Finze group is on the synthesis and characterization of materials for cathode coatings and electrolyte additives, while Giffin group will investigate the electrolyte formulations in electrochemical characterization in test cells. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research (ISC) and the University College Dublin.
