From Research to Reality: Scaling Battery Innovation with Verkor – INERRANT Releases First Podcast Episode
The INERRANT project introduces its first podcast episode: “From Research to Reality: Scaling Battery Innovation with Verkor”, which highlights advances in battery materials, safety testing, digital manufacturing systems, and recycling strategies.
In the podcast INERRANT Batteries – Revolutionising Lithium-ion Battery Technology for Enhanced Safety experts from the project are discussing topics such as driving innovation in safe and sustainable Lithium-ion batteries for e-mobility through innovative battery materials, and more.
The first episode shines a light on what it takes to build safer batteries at gigafactory scale. In the 20 minute episode, Donia Marzougui and Yannick Molméret, two experts from Verkor leading the Work Package “Safety evaluation for electromobility applications and implementation of novel performance testing processes for innovation acceleration”, take us along in their conversation from innovative battery materials and safety-by-design approaches to digital manufacturing platforms and recycling strategies, the discussion highlights how research and industry are working together to shape the next generation of lithium-ion batteries and support Europe’s ambition to build a resilient, circular, and competitive battery value chain – from lab to gigafactory.
“Too often, people think of battery safety only in terms of preventing fires. But in reality, battery safety is about designing, using, and managing batteries responsibly – from thermal control and electrical protection to safe transport and user awareness. It ensures batteries perform reliably without posing risks to people or the environment,” explains Donia Marzougui in the first episode.
